Three Seconds

Just three seconds – that is all the time you have to make that indelible first impression when you encounter another person. Within that very short time, especially in the business setting, both are determining if the other “looks the part.”  If yes, both confidently move forward.  If no, credibility will continually be questioned.  It is much easier, and more efficient, to reinforce a positive first impression, then constantly trying to reverse a negative one.

Like it or not, image does matter.  Be it in a business meeting, in a social encounter, or just in passing, impressions are made instantly.  Once that initial impression is formed, other assumptions are made – Capable?  Confident?   Approachable? Successful?   The fact is, we all do it – it is just being human!

Within first three seconds few words are ever spoken; your image is doing all the “talking.”  Think of your image and choice of dress as the perfect introduction.  Is your “introduction” how you wish to be presented and perceived? Every morning you have to put on something, just as easy to use it to your advantage.  Don’t get rejected before you have spoken even a word.
